Ylang Ylang Essential Oil (Cananga odorata)

Origin: Native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Comoros Islands, which is the largest producer. The oil is steam-distilled from the fresh flowers of the ylang ylang tree, which belongs to the Annonaceae (custard apple) family. The name "ylang ylang" is said to derive from a Tagalog word meaning "flower of flowers." Ylang ylang oil is unique in that it is traditionally collected in fractions during distillation - Extra, I, II, III, and Complete - each with a slightly different scent profile and intensity. It has been a prized ingredient in fine perfumery for over a century.

Scent: Rich, sweet, and intensely floral with a lush, exotic, heady quality. Deeply romantic and opulent - there's a creamy, custard-like sweetness layered with soft, fruity, and slightly spicy undertones. The Extra grade is the most delicate and refined, while the later fractions become progressively warmer and more woody.
