White Oud Essential Oil (Aetoxylon sympetalum)

Known as : White Oud/h , Crocodile Agarwood, Crocodile Eaglewood, Gaharu Buaya
Origin: Indonesia
Extraction: Steam Distilled
Colour & Viscosity : Yellow, thick but pourable
Scent: Woody, smoky, rich and earthy

Please note that Aetoxylon sympetalum oil is not a perfume oil/attar as such but is known as white oud. It can be used as an interesting ingredient in natural perfumery

Aetoxylon Sympetalum is an agarwood tree that can grow anywhere from 40m tall to 60cm wide. It is known as gaharu Buaya or Crocodile Agarwood in Indonesia and is commonly found in swamp areas where crocodiles live.
Aetoxylon amongst other things is used in agarwood blends to help meet demands on other existing oudhs such as the Aquilaria species.
Its colours (in oil form) can range from a nice light honey to a dark blackish/brownish colour depending on its quality. It has a light smoky smell that is sweet and woodsy.

The oil viscosity is thick and rubs on smoothly.

This pure White Oud oil comes from sustainable farmed trees in Indonesia. The wood of the "aetoxylon sympetalum" is white hence the name 'White Oudh'. The extracted oil has woody and spicy, earthy aromatic notes. The Eudesmol content of over 20% is high. Agarwood also called 'Oud' is often used in the worlds most expensive perfumes usually as a base note. White Oud actually improves with age and matures like a good wine.

Uses:

  • Valued in natural perfumery as a rare, soft, woody accent – adds a gentle, honeyed warmth and refined, oud-like depth to blends
  • A beautiful addition to diffuser blends, bringing a warm, soft, sophisticated atmosphere to any space
  • Used in candle making and soap crafting for its unique, delicate, woody character
  • Blends beautifully with sandalwood, frankincense, rose, vetiver, cedarwood, bergamot, patchouli, ylang ylang, spikenard, and vanilla oils
  • Popular in artisan fragrance work for woody, oriental, oud-inspired, and luxury compositions
  • A softer, more approachable alternative to traditional oud for those seeking a lighter, less intense wood scent
