Champaca Essential Oil is derived from a subtropical tree michelia alba of the magnolia family. It is the large yellow or orange flowers that produce the intensely fragrant scent through steam distillation. The flower extract is used as a primary ingredient in the world's most expensive perfumes due to its complex exotic and seductive fragrance. In the past the blossoms of the tree were used in herbal preparations and the oil used in skincare.

Scent: Soft, sweet, and exquisitely floral with a fresh, luminous, tea-like character. Delicate and refined – there's a distinctive, creamy, gardenia-like sweetness balanced by a subtle, green, slightly citrusy freshness. Faintly fruity and powdery with a soft, clean, woody, almost sandalwood-like depth. Elegant, ethereal, and beautifully nuanced – a quieter, more transparent, and more refined floral scent than yellow champaca, with a serene, contemplative quality. One of the most exquisite and underappreciated florals in perfumery.

Uses:

  • Highly prized in natural perfumery as a rare, delicate floral accent – adds a luminous, creamy, tea-like elegance and serene depth to blends
  • A beautiful addition to diffuser blends, bringing a soft, refined, exotic atmosphere to any space
  • Used in candle making and soap crafting for its exquisite, delicate, floral character
  • Blends beautifully with sandalwood, jasmine, rose, neroli, bergamot, ylang ylang, frankincense, cedarwood, and vanilla oils
  • Popular in artisan fragrance work for floral, oriental, exotic, and luxury compositions
  • Historically associated with temple and spiritual traditions across Southeast Asia, valued for its delicate, revered aroma
  • A rare and precious material that adds a distinctive, luminous floral quality not easily replicated with other oils
