Turmeric Essential Oil (Curcuma longa)

Origin: Native to South and Southeast Asia, particularly India, which is by far the largest producer. Also cultivated across Indonesia, China, Sri Lanka, and parts of the Caribbean. The oil is steam-distilled from the dried rhizomes (roots) of the turmeric plant, which belongs to the Zingiberaceae (ginger) family. Turmeric is a close botanical relative of ginger and has been one of the most important and widely traded spices in Asian culture for thousands of years. The essential oil has a distinctly different scent profile from ground turmeric powder and has gained increasing recognition in perfumery and artisan fragrance work for its unusual, warm, aromatic character.

Scent: Warm, earthy, and richly spicy with a deep, woody, slightly bitter character. Bold and aromatic – there's a distinctive, dry, peppery warmth layered with a subtle, green, herbaceous freshness. Faintly sweet and musky with a soft, ginger-like, resinous depth. Dense, complex, and long-lasting – an unusual, grounding scent that is earthier, drier, and more woody than ginger, with a distinctive, slightly smoky quality.

  • A distinctive addition to diffuser blends, bringing a warm, earthy, spicy atmosphere to any space
