Spikenard Essential Oil (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Origin: Native to the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, particularly Nepal, India, and China. The oil is steam-distilled from the dried roots and rhizomes of the plant, which belongs to the Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle) family. Spikenard is one of the most ancient aromatic substances - it was highly prized in biblical times and has been referenced in historical texts as a precious and sacred oil. Due to its high-altitude habitat and slow growth, it remains a rare and valuable oil.
Scent: Deep, earthy, and richly woody with a warm, musky sweetness. Heavy and grounding - there's a distinctive damp, mossy quality layered with soft, amber-like warmth. Slightly animalic and resinous with faint spicy and valerian-like undertones. Complex, mysterious, and long-lasting - an ancient, contemplative scent with remarkable depth.

This is my first spikenard rodeo, but as every essential oil that I have bought from this shop is of good quality, i can only surmise that this is the authentic smell of spikenard. I do not like leaving bad reviews, but my Spikenard was due 20th-25th. It did not arrive until 27th by which time my father had passed over. Please let them know if you are ordering oils for death rites (as Spikenard is obviously used for) and hopefully they will prioritise them, so others may not suffer as much as he did.
