also known as Southern Immortelle or Cape Gold in South Africa
Plant parts; Flowering tops and leaves
Origin : South Africa
Extraction Method: Steam Distillation
Aromatic Profile: Has a strong herbaceous and camphorous scent similar to a chamomile
Helichrysum splendidum Essential Oil also known as Immortelle or Cape Gold in South Africa is extracted by gentle steam distillation from the deep yellow flowerheads of the Helichrysum plant which is a member of the Sunflower family. It is one of the most expensive essential oils in the world because for one tonne of flowers this only produces one litre of oil!. Immortelle really is a splendid shrub, with shining, silver-grey foliage and a mass of golden yellow everlasting flowers in midsummer.
It has a distinctive pungent aroma similar but not the same as Chamomile.
