Silver Fir Essential Oil (Abies alba)

Origin: Native to the mountainous regions of central and southern Europe, particularly the Alps, Carpathians, and Pyrenees, also found across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and the Balkans. The oil is steam-distilled from the needles and small twigs of the silver fir tree, which belongs to the Pinaceae (pine) family. The name "silver fir" refers to the distinctive silvery-white bands on the underside of its needles. Silver fir is one of the tallest native European trees and has been a revered part of European forest culture for centuries. It has a long-established place in European aromatic traditions and is increasingly valued in international perfumery and artisan fragrance work.

Scent: Fresh, clean, and richly balsamic with a bright, green, resinous character. Crisp and vibrant – there's a sharp, coniferous freshness balanced by a warm, sweet, turpentine-like depth. Subtly citrusy and herbaceous with a faint, earthy, woody undertone. Bolder and more resinous than Siberian fir, with a richer, more complex, alpine character. Vibrant, grounding, and beautifully forest-like – a classic, robust European conifer scent.

Uses:

  • Valued in natural perfumery as a fresh, balsamic, coniferous accent – adds a rich, green, alpine depth and resinous brightness to blends
  • A beautiful addition to diffuser blends, bringing a fresh, crisp, forest atmosphere to any space
  • Used in candle making and soap crafting for its bold, rich, evergreen character
  • Blends beautifully with cedarwood, pine, spruce, juniper, bergamot, lavender, frankincense, cypress, rosemary, and sandalwood oils
  • Popular in artisan fragrance work for woody, green, fresh, forest, alpine, and masculine compositions
  • An excellent choice for creating authentic, European forest-inspired compositions
