Siberian Fir Essential Oil (Abies sibirica)

Origin: Native to Russia, particularly the vast boreal forests of Siberia, also found across Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and parts of northern China. Russia is by far the largest producer. The oil is steam-distilled from the needles and small twigs of the Siberian fir tree, which belongs to the Pinaceae (pine) family. Siberian fir is one of the hardiest conifers on earth, thriving in extreme cold and harsh conditions across the taiga – the world's largest terrestrial biome. It has a long history of use in Russian aromatic traditions and has become increasingly popular in international perfumery and artisan fragrance work for its clean, gentle, forest-like character.

Scent: Fresh, clean, and softly balsamic with a bright, sweet, coniferous character. Gentle and refined – there's a crisp, green, needle-like freshness balanced by a warm, resinous, slightly citrusy sweetness. Subtly earthy with a faint, woody, pine-like depth. Light, airy, and beautifully smooth – a softer, sweeter, and more delicate conifer scent than many other fir and pine oils. Evocative of cold, pristine, snow-covered forests.

Uses:

  • Valued in natural perfumery as a fresh, sweet, coniferous accent – adds a clean, green, forest-like quality and gentle brightness to blends
  • A beautiful addition to diffuser blends, bringing a fresh, crisp, woodland atmosphere to any space
  • Used in candle making and soap crafting for its clean, sweet, evergreen character
  • Blends beautifully with cedarwood, pine, spruce, juniper, bergamot, lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, and eucalyptus oils
  • Popular in artisan fragrance work for woody, green, fresh, forest, and winter compositions
  • An excellent layering oil in coniferous blends – adds sweetness and softness without overpowering sharper, more resinous elements
