Shikuwasa Blossom Essential Oil — A Rare Japanese Citrus Flower
Most citrus oils come from the peel. This one comes from the blossom. Steam distilled from the flowers of Citrus depressa Hayata, the small, fragrant Japanese citrus known as shikuwasa, it offers a bright, green-tinged citrus-flower character that sits somewhere between the sparkle of the fruit and the softness of the blossom. A top note of real interest for natural perfumers looking for something beyond the usual neroli and petitgrain.
Scent Profile
Fresh, clean and gently sweet, with a floral-citrus lift and a green edge. Light and airy rather than heavy or indolic.
Perfumery Applications
- Fresh citrus-floral and cologne-style accords
- Lifting and brightening white floral compositions
- Green and tea-like accords
- Opening notes for natural perfumes and solid perfumes
Blending Suggestions
Pairs well with neroli, petitgrain, bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine, white tea, vetiver and light woods.
