Sacred Hojari Frankincense Absolute — The Incense of Antiquity, Refined

Frankincense has been burned in temples and palaces for thousands of years, and Boswellia sacra — the frankincense tree of the Arabian Peninsula and Somalia — is the source of its most celebrated grades. This is a premium Hojari absolute, wildcrafted and solvent extracted from the resin to capture the incense character in a rich, concentrated form that goes well beyond the bright, lemony top note of the familiar essential oil.

As the pure absolute is exceptionally concentrated, we supply it at 30% in a blend of natural TEC and benzyl benzoate, which makes it easy to measure and work with while preserving its character. Even at this dilution, it remains a material of remarkable depth.

Scent Profile

A rich balsamic, resinous aroma with notes of sweet incense, soft spice and honeyed wood — warm, deep and long-lasting, with a quiet ritual solemnity.

Perfumery Applications

A classic base note for incense, amber, oriental and woody compositions, and for the ritual and sacred-space blends where frankincense has always belonged. It adds depth and a lingering resinous warmth to florals and citrus, and works equally well as the heart of an incense accord. Introduce it gradually when building a composition.

Blending Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with myrrh, benzoin, labdanum, sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, vetiver, rose, jasmine, bergamot, orange and soft musks, and with our other frankincense materials.

1ml sample supplied in a 5ml clear flint glass bottle. 5ml, 10ml and 30ml supplied in amber glass bottles — all with inbuilt droppers and tamper evident caps.
