Brazilian Roasted Yerba Mate Absolute — Yerba Mate Transformed by Fire

Most mate absolute available to the natural perfumer is produced from unroasted leaves, yielding the familiar green, herbal, tea-like character that has made yerba mate a beloved South American botanical for centuries. This is something different entirely — a rare roasted expression of Ilex paraguariensis, exclusive to our supplier, where the roasting process transforms the leaf's naturally earthy character into something considerably richer, darker, and more complex than the standard absolute.

Where our existing Yerba Mate Absolute offers the classic green tea-tobacco profile that most perfumers know, this roasted expression takes the same botanical starting point in an entirely different direction — deep, dark, and evocative of roasted tea, tobacco, and coffee rather than fresh green leaf. Solvent extracted from Brazilian-grown mate, it is a genuinely rare and distinctive material rarely encountered in modern perfumery.

Scent Profile

The opening reveals deep, dark facets of roasted tea intertwined with tobacco and dark coffee — a considerably richer and more smoky-toasted character than the fresh green profile of standard mate absolute.
