Judean Red Everlasting Oil — An Uncommon Helichrysum of the Eastern Mediterranean

Most helichrysum oil on the market comes from Helichrysum italicum — the familiar "Immortelle" of Corsica and the Balkans. This is a genuinely different, considerably rarer species: Helichrysum sanguineum, the Red Everlasting, native to the rocky hillsides of the Eastern Mediterranean and named for the deep crimson-red bracts that surround its flowers. Steam distilled to yield an essential oil of real distinction, it offers a character quite different from the more familiar honeyed warmth of Italicum — an uncommon botanical rarity for the perfumer or aromatherapist seeking to move beyond the everyday.
