✦ Rajnigandha Attar — The Tuberose of India ✦

"Rajnigandha" translates from Sanskrit as fragrant queen of the night — a name that speaks at once to the extraordinary character of this celebrated flower. Known botanically as Polianthes tuberosa, rajnigandha is the tuberose: a bloom whose intensely rich, creamy, and deeply sweet fragrance has placed it among the most prized and revered florals in Indian culture, classical perfumery, and the wider world of natural scent for centuries.

In Indian life, rajnigandha holds a place of enduring affection. Its long white flower spikes are strung into garlands for temples, celebrations, and ceremonies; threaded into bridal arrangements; and offered in devotion at shrines across the subcontinent. Its fragrance — heady, opulent, and deeply sensual — is regarded by many master perfumers as among the most beautiful and complex of all natural floral materials. Rajnigandha Attar captures this extraordinary flower in a pure, alcohol-free perfumery oil of exceptional richness and depth.

Scent Profile

Rajnigandha Attar opens with an intensely rich, creamy rush of white florals — immediately opulent and deeply heady, with the characteristic sweetness of tuberose at its most exuberant. As it unfolds, a warm, honeyed creaminess deepens beneath the florals, with a faintly animalic depth that gives tuberose its legendary complexity and distinction. A foundation of sandalwood anchors and extends the floral heart, drawing the richness of the rajnigandha into a warm, enduringly beautiful dry-down of quiet intimacy.

Origin & Production

Rajnigandha Attar is crafted in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh — India's historic perfume capital, with an attar-making tradition stretching back over four centuries. Tuberose is one of the great classical flowers of the Kannauj tradition, long prized by master perfumers for the extraordinary richness and complexity it yields.

Fresh rajnigandha blossoms are harvested at the precise moment of peak fragrance and hydro-distilled over pure sandalwood oil using the traditional deg-bhapka method — a time-honoured process recognised by UNESCO as part of India's intangible cultural heritage. No alcohol, no synthetic fixatives; only the finest natural materials, craft, and time.

Use & Appreciation

Rajnigandha Attar is offered both as a traditional personal fragrance and as a perfumery material and collector's attar for those who appreciate the heritage of natural Indian scent.

  • Personal use: Applied sparingly to the skin, it releases its floral richness gently with the body's warmth — in the manner of attars worn across the subcontinent for generations.
  • Ceremonial & celebratory tradition: Rajnigandha has accompanied Indian weddings, festivals, and occasions of devotion for centuries. This attar carries that tradition in its most personal and concentrated form.
  • Perfumery & blending: Layers beautifully with rose, jasmine, mogra, amber, and sandalwood, lending an intensely rich, creamy floral depth to any composition.
  • Collection: A distinguished addition to any collection of classical Indian attars and natural perfumery materials.

A deeply beautiful gift for lovers of rich white florals, Indian heritage, natural perfumery, and the art of traditional attar-making.
