Oakmoss Absolute Oil
Botanical Name: Evernia prunastri
Origin: Southern Asia
Part Used: Lichen
Extraction Method: It is extracted from the lichen first by solvent extraction and then vacuum distillation.
Appearance: Greenish brown to dark brown coloured, slightly viscous liquid but pourable
Scent: A strong scent of moist moss and lichen
Main Uses: Natural Perfumery and for creating your own blends. Cosmetic use in creams and lotions
Note: Base Note (Excellent Fixative)
Oak moss is a light green lichen that is found growing on oak trees (though sometimes on other species as well such as Pines and Firs). The Essential oil of Oakmoss is used in perfumery as a fixative.
Blends well with Anise, Bay, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Ginger, Lavender, Lime, Neroli, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Tea Tree, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.
Pure Absolute Oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before using on the skin. A patch test is recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product.
