✦ MOULSARI ATTAR - The Blossom of Ancient India ✦

Moulsari - also known as Maulshri, and botanically as Mimusops elengi - is one of the most beloved and culturally significant flowering trees of the Indian subcontinent. Also commonly spelled Moulsree, the tree produces small, star-shaped, creamy white blossoms of extraordinary fragrance - sweet, soft, and deeply floral, with a warmth and intimacy that has made the moulsari flower a cherished part of Indian life, literature, and devotional tradition for thousands of years.

Referenced in ancient Sanskrit texts, woven into garlands for temples and celebrations, and treasured by the perfumers of Kannauj as one of the great classical attar flowers, moulsari is a fragrance of quiet beauty and timeless grace.

THE SCENT PROFILE

Moulsari Attar opens with a soft, sweet, creamy floral - delicate yet distinctive, with a warmth and intimacy that immediately sets it apart from more familiar florals such as rose or jasmine. It is gentler and more understated than either, with a honeyed softness and a faintly powdery depth that gives it an air of quiet elegance. As it settles on the skin, the creamy sandalwood base slowly draws the floral warmth inward, producing a fragrance that is deeply personal and enduringly beautiful.

ORIGIN & PRODUCTION

Moulsari Attar is crafted in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh - India's historic perfume capital, with an attar-making tradition stretching back over 400 years. The moulsari flower is one of the classical attar flowers of the Kannauj tradition, and its distillation is a skill that has been passed down through generations of master perfumers. The fragrance is produced using the traditional deg-bhapka method of hydro-distillation, recognised by UNESCO as part of India's intangible cultural heritage, with fresh moulsari blossoms carefully distilled over pure sandalwood oil to preserve the full delicacy and warmth of the flower. No alcohol, no synthetic fixatives - only the finest natural materials and time.

HOW TO WEAR & USES

  • Personal Fragrance: Apply to pulse points - wrists, inner elbows, neck, and behind the ears. Moulsari Attar interacts beautifully with the skin's natural warmth, slowly releasing its soft, creamy floral character throughout the day.
  • Meditation & Spiritual Practice: The moulsari flower has been used in Hindu devotional practice for centuries, offered at temples and shrines as a symbol of purity and grace. Many find Moulsari Attar a deeply serene and centering fragrance for meditation, yoga, and prayer.
  • Fragrance Layering: Moulsari Attar layers beautifully with rose, jasmine, sandalwood, and soft musk-based fragrances, adding a gentle, creamy floral softness to any blend.
  • Gift Giving: A refined and deeply personal gift for lovers of delicate florals, Indian heritage, or anyone with an appreciation of the classical attar tradition and its rarer, lesser-known treasures.
