Linden Blossom Essential Oil (Tilia cordata)
Origin: Native to Europe and western Asia, found widely across temperate regions of England, France, Germany, Poland, and the Balkans. France is the most notable producer of linden blossom oil for the perfumery industry. The oil is is solvent-extracted (organic/hexane free) from the fresh flowers and bracts of the small-leaved lime tree (also known as littleleaf linden), which belongs to the Malvaceae (mallow) family. Linden blossom has been cherished across European cultures for centuries, with a deep cultural and aromatic significance. It remains a rare, highly prized material in fine and artisan perfumery.
Scent: Sweet, warm, and richly honeyed with a soft, delicate, floral character. Lush and enveloping – there's a distinctive, beeswax-like, nectarous sweetness balanced by a subtle, green, herbaceous freshness. Slightly spicy and tea-like with a faint, dry, woody, hay-like depth. Rounded, elegant, and beautifully nuanced – a gentle, romantic floral scent with a warm, golden, sun-drenched quality. Often described as the scent of a summer afternoon beneath a flowering linden tree.
