Khus Root CO₂ Wax — Pure, Solid, Uncompromised
Vetiver — Chrysopogon zizanioides, long known as khus in India — is a tall perennial grass whose dense, fibrous roots hold one of the great base notes of perfumery. It is usually met as a distilled oil or a solvent-extracted absolute. This CO₂ wax is extracted from the roots and offers a different way to work with the same plant, as a concentrated solid that suits solid perfumes, balms and other anhydrous work.
Supplied here in its pure, undiluted, solid wax form — exactly as extracted, with no carrier of any kind added. This is the genuine article for perfumers who prefer to prepare their own dilutions, or who want to work directly with the material in its most concentrated and authentic state.
Scent Profile
Earthy and woody, with the deep, rooty character that vetiver is famous for.
Perfumery Applications
A classic base material for woody, chypre, fougère, oriental and masculine compositions, and a natural choice for solid perfumes, balms and other anhydrous formulations. It adds depth and a lingering earthy foundation to lighter materials. Introduce it gradually when building a composition.
Usage Note
This wax is solid at room temperature. To prepare for use, gently warm in a water bath at around 90°C to melt it into a liquid, then dilute with your solvent of choice according to your own formulation preferences.
Blending Suggestions
Pairs beautifully with sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, oakmoss, labdanum, bergamot, lavender, geranium, rose, jasmine, frankincense and soft musks, and with our other vetiver materials.
