German Chamomile CO₂ Wax — The Prized Blue Chamomile in Concentrated Form
German Blue Chamomile has long commanded a reputation as one of natural perfumery's more expensive and more prized materials — its striking deep azure colour and warm, honeyed, apple-blossom character have made it a favourite of perfumers since Arctander himself noted its use "in small percentages in perfumes to introduce a warm, rich undertone which lasts through all stages of evaporation." This CO₂ wax captures that same celebrated Matricaria chamomilla character in a rich, concentrated form — offering a depth and complexity that the more familiar essential oil often only hints at.
As the pure wax is solid at room temperature, we supply it at 50% in natural triethyl citrate (TEC) — an odourless, citrus-derived carrier that restores full pourability without compromising the material's character in any way.
Scent Profile
Sweet, herbal, and warmly inviting — a gentle apple-blossom sweetness threaded through with hay-like and honeyed nuances, and a soft, creamy waxy character that sets it apart from the sharper, more medicinal profile of the conventional distilled oil. This is chamomile at its most rounded and luxurious — comforting rather than clinical, with a genuine depth that develops beautifully as it settles on the skin.
Perfumery Applications
A wonderfully versatile heart note material, prized for adding a warm, honeyed roundness to floral, herbal, and gourmand compositions. Its soft waxy character makes it an outstanding blending material — softening sharper florals, adding comfort and warmth to lavender and herbal accords, and providing a genuinely natural apple-blossom sweetness that no synthetic material fully replicates. A small amount goes a long way, true to its historically prized status as a premium natural material.
Blending Suggestions
Pairs beautifully with lavender, clary sage, rose absolute, bergamot, geranium, jasmine, sandalwood, cedarwood, tonka bean, vanilla, and soft musks.
