Fragonia Essential Oil (Agonis fragrans)
Origin: Native to Western Australia, found exclusively in the southwest coastal region of the state. The oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and terminal branches of the fragonia plant, which belongs to the Myrtaceae (myrtle) family. Fragonia is a trademarked name for this particular essential oil, first commercially distilled in the early 2000s. Also known as coarse tea tree, Agonis fragrans is a small shrub that is endemic to a relatively limited geographic area, making it a uniquely Western Australian aromatic product. It is distinct from other members of the Myrtaceae family such as tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and eucalyptus, with its own unique scent profile and chemical composition. Fragonia has gained rapidly increasing recognition in international perfumery and artisan fragrance work for its distinctive, balanced, versatile character.
Scent: Fresh, clean, and brightly aromatic with a soft, sweet, slightly floral character. Beautifully balanced – there's a distinctive, eucalyptus-like, cineole freshness harmonised with a gentle, sweet, linalool-like floral warmth and a subtle, spicy, terpinen-like depth. Faintly fruity and green with a delicate, tea-tree-like undertone but considerably softer and more refined. Smooth, elegant, and remarkably well-rounded – a unique, versatile scent that is often described as one of the most harmoniously balanced essential oils available, seamlessly blending fresh, floral, and spicy elements.
