Elemi Essential Oil (Canarium luzonicum)

Origin: Native to the Philippines, where it grows in tropical forests across the archipelago. The oil is steam-distilled from the fresh resin (oleoresin) of the elemi tree, which belongs to the Burseraceae (frankincense/myrrh) family. Elemi is a close botanical relative of both frankincense (Boswellia) and myrrh (Commiphora), sharing a similar resinous character but with its own distinctive scent profile. The resin is harvested by making incisions in the bark of the tree, from which the soft, fragrant gum exudes. Elemi has been used in aromatic traditions for centuries, historically traded across Europe for use in perfumery and varnish making.

Scent: Fresh, bright, and citrusy with a soft, resinous, balsamic warmth. Clean and uplifting - there's a distinctive, lemony, peppery brightness layered with a gentle, woody, frankincense-like depth. Subtly spicy with a faint, green, herbaceous quality. Light, luminous, and elegantly balanced - a refined, versatile resin scent that bridges the freshness of citrus oils and the warmth of deeper resins. Often described as frankincense's lighter, brighter relative.
