Jasmine Essential Oil (Jasminum grandiflorum)

Origin: Native to South Asia and the eastern Himalayas, now widely cultivated across India, Egypt, Morocco, France, and other Mediterranean regions. India and Egypt are among the largest producers. The absolute is solvent-extracted from the fresh, hand-picked flowers of the jasmine plant, which belongs to the Oleaceae (olive) family. Jasminum grandiflorum, also known as royal jasmine, Spanish jasmine, or poet's jasmine, is one of two main species used in perfumery – the other being Jasminum sambac (Arabian jasmine). The flowers must be harvested by hand in the early morning when their fragrance is at its peak, making genuine jasmine absolute one of the most labour-intensive and expensive aromatic materials in the world. It has been a cornerstone of fine perfumery for centuries.
