Ancient Oak Bark CO₂ Wax — Deep Tannic Woodland Character

While our existing Oak Heartwood Absolute captures the whisky-barrel warmth of aged French oak wood, this CO₂ wax offers something entirely different — extracted from the bark of Quercus robur, it delivers a considerably darker, more tannic, and more resinous character, closer to damp forest floor and ancient woodland than to a seasoned barrel.

As the pure wax is solid at room temperature, we supply it at 50% in benzyl benzoate — a heavier, more aromatic solvent particularly well suited to dissolving thick, dark, tannin-rich materials of this kind, giving a genuinely workable pourable liquid without losing the material's dense character.

Scent Profile

Deep, tannic, and unmistakably woody from the opening — a genuinely dark and complex profile combining smoky, leathery facets with a resinous depth reminiscent of aged bark and forest undergrowth. This is oak at its most primal and grounded — earthier and more astringent than the sweeter, more refined heartwood absolute, with real tannic bite balanced by a warm resinous drydown.

Packaging

1ml sample supplied in a 5ml clear flint glass bottle. 5ml, 10ml and 30ml supplied in amber glass bottles — all with inbuilt droppers and tamper evident caps.
