Aged Patchouli Leaf CO₂ Wax — A Darker, Deeper Expression

Patchouli is one of natural perfumery's great foundational materials — but this CO₂ wax offers a genuinely different expression from the familiar steam-distilled essential oil. Extracted from Pogostemon cablin leaves, it captures the plant's full lipid and aromatic complexity in concentrated wax form, yielding a darker, earthier, and more resinous character than the conventional oil ever achieves.

As the pure wax is solid at room temperature, we supply it at 50% in benzyl benzoate — a heavier, more aromatic solvent particularly well suited to dissolving thick, dark, earthy materials of this kind, giving a genuinely workable pourable liquid without losing the material's dense character.

Scent Profile

Deep, dark, and unmistakably patchouli from the opening — earthy, woody, and slightly camphoraceous, with a rich resinous depth that sets it apart from the brighter, more familiar essential oil. A genuine mustiness and soil-like complexity underlies the character, developing into a warm, ambery drydown of considerable tenacity. This is patchouli at its most primal and grounded.

Perfumery Applications

An excellent, genuinely distinctive base note for oriental, chypre, and dark woody compositions where a deeper, more resinous patchouli character is wanted than the standard essential oil provides. Its earthy density makes it a compelling addition to leather accords and heavy amber structures, adding authentic botanical depth and complexity.

Blending Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with oud, vetiver, labdanum, oakmoss, sandalwood, cedarwood, vanilla, tonka bean, rose absolute, and dark resinous materials.

Packaging

1ml sample supplied in a 5ml clear flint glass bottle. 5ml, 10ml and 30ml supplied in amber glass bottles — all with inbuilt droppers and tamper evident caps.
