✦ AGARWOOD ATTAR - The Liquid Gold of Perfumery ✦
Agarwood is one of the most precious and sought-after natural materials in the world. Revered for thousands of years across Arabia, South and Southeast Asia, China, and Japan, it has been burned as sacred incense, offered in temples and mosques, and worn by royalty as the ultimate expression of luxury and spiritual devotion. Agarwood Attar captures the full, extraordinary depth of this legendary material in a pure, alcohol-free perfume oil.
"Agarwood" refers to the dark, resin-saturated heartwood that forms inside Aquilaria trees when they become infected with a specific mould (Phialophora parasitica). This natural defence response produces one of the most complex and extraordinary scents in existence. In Arabic it is known as Oud, in Sanskrit as Agaru, in Japanese as Jinkoh, and in Chinese as Chen Xiang - each culture recognising it as something truly exceptional.
THE SCENT PROFILE
Agarwood Attar is deep, complex, and utterly unlike any other fragrance. The opening is warm and woody, with a rich, smoky resinous character that immediately commands attention. As it develops, layers of dark sweetness, leather, incense, and earthy depth emerge - underpinned by the creamy sandalwood base that carries and extends the oud throughout its long life on the skin.
True agarwood is never a simple or one-dimensional scent. It evolves continuously on the skin, revealing new facets over many hours - from its initial boldness to a deeply intimate, almost meditative warmth in the dry-down.

ORIGIN & PRODUCTION
Agarwood Attar originates from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh - India's historic perfume capital, with an attar-making tradition stretching back over 400 years. Agarwood chips are hydro-distilled in a traditional copper still (deg) over pure sandalwood oil using the deg-bhapka method, recognised by UNESCO as part of India's intangible cultural heritage. The yield is exceptionally small and the raw material extraordinarily rare, making genuine agarwood attar one of the most precious fragrances in the world.
HOW TO WEAR & USES
- Personal Fragrance: Apply sparingly to pulse points - wrists, inner elbows, neck, and behind the ears. Agarwood Attar is powerful - a small amount goes a long way and will last throughout the day and into the evening.
- Meditation & Spiritual Practice: Agarwood has been used in spiritual and religious practice for over 3,000 years - burned as sacred incense in Buddhist temples, Hindu ceremonies, and Japanese Koh-do (the art of incense), and worn as a precious oil to create an atmosphere of reverence, devotion, and contemplative depth. Wearing Agarwood Attar during meditation or prayer connects the wearer to one of the world's oldest and most profound fragrance traditions.
- Fragrance Layering: Agarwood Attar is an outstanding base note - it anchors and deepens any fragrance it is paired with, adding extraordinary richness and longevity to rose, amber, musk, or citrus scents applied on top.
- Gift Giving: An exceptional and deeply memorable gift for fragrance enthusiasts, collectors of natural perfumery, or anyone with an appreciation of one of the world's great luxury materials.
