Vegetable Glycerine

Vegetable Liquid Glycerine

Derived from vegetable sources, this versatile liquid is one of the most widely used ingredients in natural cosmetic formulations. Valued for its humectant characteristics and multi-functional properties, vegetable glycerine has been a cornerstone ingredient in beauty products for generations.

About This Product

Vegetable liquid glycerine (also known as glycerin or glycerol) is derived from vegetable oils, typically from palm, coconut, or soya bean sources. This liquid typically appears completely clear and colourless with a thick, viscous consistency and a characteristic slightly sweet taste.

Glycerine is produced as a natural byproduct during the soap-making process (saponification) or biodiesel production. As a plant-derived ingredient, vegetable glycerine offers a cruelty-free alternative to animal-derived glycerine, making it suitable for vegan cosmetic formulations.

What sets vegetable glycerine apart is its hygroscopic nature - it readily absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment. This characteristic has made it one of the most versatile and widely used ingredients in cosmetic formulations, appearing in products ranging from lotions to soaps.

Vegetable glycerine is water-soluble and mixes easily with water-based formulations. It can be used at various concentrations depending on the application, from neat application to diluted mixtures. Its thick, viscous texture and naturally sweet character make it immediately recognizable.
