About This Oil

Tamanu oil is cold-pressed from the nuts of the tamanu tree, a coastal tree native to tropical regions across the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa. This oil typically has a characteristic dark green appearance and a very strong, distinctive aroma that is earthy and medicinal, which may not be pleasant to all users.

The tamanu tree has held deep cultural significance across Pacific Island communities for generations, where the oil has been a traditional ingredient in various applications. The nuts undergo a unique curing process after harvesting, during which they develop the oil content that can then be extracted.

• Close cap tightly after each use to preserve freshness
• Best used within 12-18 months of opening
• Refrigeration after opening can help extend shelf life
• The oil may solidify or become very thick in cooler temperatures but will return to liquid state when warmed
• Discard if oil develops an off odour beyond its naturally strong scent or changes significantly in appearance
• Keep away from heat sources
• Do not use if seal is broken or missing
