Mace Essential Oil (Myristica fragrans)
Origin: Native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia, now also cultivated across Sri Lanka, India, Grenada, and other tropical regions. Indonesia remains the most notable source. The oil is steam-distilled from the dried aril (the lacy, reddish covering) that surrounds the nutmeg seed of the fruit of the nutmeg tree, which belongs to the Myristicaceae family. Mace and nutmeg come from the same tree and the same fruit, but from different parts – mace from the outer aril and nutmeg from the inner seed – producing oils with related but distinctly different scent profiles. Mace has been one of the most prized and expensive spices in history, with ancient trade routes built around its commerce. It has an established place in perfumery and aromatic traditions.
Scent: Warm, rich, and sweetly spicy with a fresh, bright, slightly peppery character. Refined and aromatic – there's a distinctive, warm, nutmeg-like quality that is lighter, more delicate, and more lifted than nutmeg oil. Subtly woody and balsamic with a faint, green, herbaceous undertone. Smooth, elegant, and complex – a sophisticated, nuanced spice scent with a gentle, honeyed warmth and a brighter, fresher finish than its nutmeg counterpart.

- A distinctive addition to diffuser blends, bringing a warm, spicy, sophisticated atmosphere to any space
- Used in candle making and soap crafting for its elegant, warm, aromatic character
- Blends beautifully with orange, cinnamon, frankincense, sandalwood, cedarwood, lavender, bergamot, cardamom, and vanilla oils
