Horse Chestnut Infused Oil

Traditional horse chestnut seeds (Aesculus hippocastanum) carefully infused into sunflower oil, creating this distinctive herbal oil with a long history in European traditional practices. This time-honoured infusion process captures compounds from horse chestnut seeds, making it a traditional ingredient in herbal cosmetic formulations.

About This Oil

Horse chestnut infused oil is created by macerating processed horse chestnut seeds in sunflower oil over an extended period, allowing the plant compounds from the seeds to infuse into the carrier oil. This oil typically has a golden to amber appearance and a characteristic mild, earthy aroma associated with horse chestnut.

The horse chestnut tree, native to the Balkans but now widespread across Europe, has been a familiar sight in parks and gardens for centuries. The shiny brown seeds, often called conkers in the UK, have been used in traditional European herbal practices for generations.

The infusion process is a traditional method that has been used for generations to create herb-enriched oils. Sunflower oil serves as an excellent carrier base due to its light texture, stability, and neutral profile, allowing the horse chestnut's natural compounds to infuse effectively.

This infused oil has a medium-weight texture. The sunflower oil base provides a stable foundation with good shelf life, while the horse chestnut infusion adds its characteristic colour and herbal character to cosmetic formulations.
