Flaxseed Oil - Pure Natural Oil for Skincare
Extracted from the seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), this oil is renowned for its exceptionally high omega-3 fatty acid content. Cold-pressed to preserve its natural properties, flaxseed oil has become a valued specialty ingredient in natural cosmetic formulations, particularly prized for its unique nutritional profile.
About This Oil
Flaxseed oil, also known as linseed oil when used in cosmetic applications, is cold-pressed from the seeds of the flax plant, one of humanity's oldest cultivated crops with a history spanning thousands of years. This typically has a golden yellow appearance and a distinctive nutty, slightly earthy aroma characteristic of flax seeds.
Flax has been cultivated since ancient times, valued both for its fibres (used to make linen) and its seeds. The oil extracted from these seeds is one of the richest plant sources of omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid available, making it nutritionally unique among cosmetic oils.
Flaxseed oil has a light to medium texture that absorbs reasonably well into skin. However, it is one of the most delicate cosmetic oils available due to its exceptionally high polyunsaturated fatty acid content. This delicate nature means the oil requires very careful storage and should be used relatively quickly after opening.
Important Note: Cosmetic-grade flaxseed oil is different from industrial linseed oil used in wood finishing and paints. This oil is specifically processed for cosmetic use only.
