Dried-Fruit Davana CO₂ Extract — A Jammy, Ripe-Fruit Heart Note
Davana — Artemisia pallens — is a small, fragrant herb traditionally grown in southern India, prized by perfumers for one of the most distinctive fruity notes in the natural palette: rich, sweet and jammy, with berry, blackcurrant, apricot and dried-fruit facets that few other botanicals can match. This CO₂ extract captures the plant's flowers and leaves in concentrated form, free of conventional solvent residues.
As the pure extract is highly concentrated, we supply it at 30% in natural TEC (triethyl citrate) — an odourless carrier that keeps the material pourable and easy to dose while preserving its character. Even diluted, davana remains powerfully fragrant.
Scent Profile
Sweet, fruity and jammy — ripe berry and blackcurrant with apricot and dried-fruit nuances, carrying a deep, rich fruitiness that settles into warm, woody-balsamic undertones as it dries down. A genuinely characterful material rather than a simple fruit note.
Perfumery Applications
A signature fruity heart material for fine fragrance, lending ripe, jammy richness to florals (rose in particular), chypres, orientals and gourmand structures. Davana is very potent, so start with a trace and build gradually.
Blending Suggestions
Pairs beautifully with rose absolute, jasmine, ylang ylang, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, labdanum, benzoin, tobacco, and bergamot.
