Dill Seed Essential Oil (Anethum graveolens)
Origin: Native to the Mediterranean region and western Asia, now widely cultivated across Europe, India, Egypt, and North America. Major producers include India, Egypt, Hungary, and Germany. The oil is steam-distilled from the dried, ripe seeds (fruit) of the dill plant, which belongs to the Apiaceae (carrot/parsley) family. Dill seed oil is distinct from dill weed oil, which is distilled from the leaves and stems and has a different chemical profile and scent character. Dill has been used in aromatic traditions since ancient Egyptian and Roman times and has an established place in perfumery.
Scent: Warm, sweet, and gently spicy with a fresh, herbaceous, slightly minty character. Smooth and aromatic — there's a distinctive, caraway-like warmth layered with a soft, green, anise-like sweetness. Subtly peppery with a faint, dry, earthy undertone. Clean, rounded, and pleasantly familiar - a refined, understated spice scent that is warmer and sweeter than dill weed oil.
