Comfrey Infused Oil
Traditional comfrey leaves (Symphytum officinale) carefully infused into sunflower oil, creating this distinctive herbal oil with a long history in traditional European practices. This time-honoured infusion process captures the essence of comfrey, making it a traditional ingredient in herbal cosmetic formulations.
About This Oil
Comfrey infused oil is created by macerating dried comfrey leaves in sunflower oil over an extended period, allowing the plant compounds from the leaves to infuse into the carrier oil. This oil typically has a greenish to amber appearance and a characteristic herbaceous scent associated with comfrey.
Comfrey, also known as knitbone or boneset, has been cultivated in European herb gardens for centuries and holds a significant place in traditional herbal practices. The large, hairy leaves are carefully harvested and dried before being infused into high-quality sunflower oil.
The infusion process is a traditional method that has been used for generations to create herb-enriched oils. Sunflower oil serves as an excellent carrier base due to its light texture, stability, and neutral profile, allowing the comfrey's natural compounds to infuse effectively.
This infused oil has a medium-weight texture that absorbs into skin. The sunflower oil base provides a stable foundation with good shelf life, while the comfrey infusion adds its characteristic colour and herbaceous aroma to cosmetic formulations.
