Description

Botanical Name: Nardostachys jatamansi.

Plant Part: Dried root.

Extraction Method: Steam.

Origin: Nepal

Spikenard grows high in the Himalayas and should be considered a rare and precious oil. It is a little known and little used oil, yet it is valuable for those whose interest is in ancient oils, or for those looking for its unique aroma and/or therapeutic affects. Spikenard is a soft, aromatic herb with a strongly pungent rhizome root. It is native to the mountainous regions of Northern India, as well as China and Japan. It has a strong aroma and blends well with Lavender, Patchouli, Pine, Vetiver, and spice oils. It has an earthy, harsh wood like smell that is slightly musty.

For External Use Only

The dilution is at 10% in a Jojoba and Vitamin E base which helps to preserve the oil. Being quite strong it can be diluted further if necessary and can be used straight on the skin however a patch test is always recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product.
