Origin: India

Between 15-20 metres high, this massive tree has a thick trunk. Its drooping branches are covered with long leaves. These latter, entire and rather big, are pointed. The small flowers, greenish white, form sparse clusters; male and female flowers appear on different trees. 6-7cm in diameter, the brown round fruit contain many 2cm long seeds rich in oil (roughly 60%). Chaulmoogra belongs to the Hydnocarpus family, which is a common plant family in Southern Asia.

Consistency: Very heavy and viscous, (This oil needs to be gently warmed and stirred well before use as it will solidify at about 7c)

Blends well with Lavender, Tea Tree, Roman Chamomile

Aromatic Scent: Chaulmogra has a mild, woody aroma.

Pure Essential Oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before using on the skin. A patch test is recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product. If blending into creams, lotions, body butters etc, 1-2% maximum of the pure absolute oil or essential oil to 100% of the product is usually about right.
