The beautiful floral scented oil is extracted from the creamy white flowers of the Gardenia taitensis which is a shrub growing in Tahiti an Island in French Polynesia located in the Southern Pacific Ocean.
The flower is a national symbol of Tahiti and is worn in traditional floral necklaces with other flowers being a sign of affection and welcome.
A perfume called Monoi Tiare Tahiti is also made by infusing the gardenia blossoms in coconut oil.
Tahitian Gardenia has a deeply calming and balancing quality and also has anti- inflammatory and anti ageing properties having a moisturising effect on the skin.
Pure Absolute Oils or Essential Oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before using on the skin. A patch test is recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product. If blending into creams, lotions, body butters etc, 1-2% maximum of the pure absolute oil or essential oil to 100% of the product is usually about right.
