The Mimosa shrub is a lovely plant that produces delicate fern-like leaves and fluffy pompom blossoms of bright yellow or purple flowers. Mimosa belongs to the legume family and is native to tropical South America but is also cultivated in warm climates around the world. In Indonesia and Malaysia Mimosa is known by the name ‘putri malu’ which means shy princess, its Latin name pudica meaning shy, bashful or shrinking.

Mimosa is much loved and revered in the perfume industry. It has long lingering base notes and ranges from gently sweet and floral at times to woody and musty. It has a beautiful and unique fragrance.

It is also an excellent choice for a relaxing massage (diluted with a carrier oil) and to add to lotions, creams and butters.

Pure Absolute Oils or Essential Oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before using on the skin. A patch test is recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product.
